10 Things You Must Know About Lalitaditya Muktapida: Lalitaditya Muktapida was a monarch belonging to the Karkota dynasty of Kashmir region in the Indian subcontinent. He was the 3rd son on Durlabhaka. Here are the list of 10 things about Lalitaditya Muktapida.

1. Lalitaditya Muktapida was born in the year of 699 AD. He was the third son of Durlabhka (Pratapditya II) of Kashmir.

2. Lalitaditya Muktapida belongs to the Nagvanshi Karkota Kayastha Dynasty of Kashmir.

3. The birth name of Lalitaditya Muktapida was Muktapida. His older brothers were Chandrapida and Tarapida.

4. Lalitaditya Muktapida ruled as the Kingdom of Kashmir from around 724 CE to 760 CE.

5. Lalitaditya fought the Daradas, Kabhojas, and Bhuttas of Ladakh who were under the Tibetan rule.

6. He himself led the army into the war defeating all kings and established control over the regions of Ladakh.

7. The alliance between Lalitaditya and Yashovarman (Founder of the Verman dynasty) defeated the Arabs from entering Kashmir.

8. Lalitaditya later invaded Turkestan (Kazakhstan) via Kabul (Afghanistan). He acquired most of the places in the west and south of India starting from Rashtrakutas, Pallavas and Kalinga in the southern part.

9. Lalitaditya Muktapida was a very liberal king. He was a strong follower of Hindu tradition and he also respected all religions. He is said to be a very compassionate ruler who responded to people’s voices.

10. Lalitaditya Muktapida commissioned a number of shrines in Kashmir, including The Martand Sun Temple.
