1. The Sudarshan Setu was formerly known as Okhra-Beyt Dwarka Signature Bridge.

2. The Sudarshan Setu is a cable-stayed bridge in India that connects the Beyt Dwarka islands in the Gulf of Kutch and Okha in Gujarat.

3. The total length of the Sudarshan Setu bridge is 2,320 metres or 7,612 feets.

4. The Sudarshan Setu bridge was inaugurated on 25 February 2024 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

5. The Sudarshan Setu is India’s longest cable-stayed bridge on the Arabian Sea. It connects Beyt Dwarka island to mainland Okha in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district.

6. Approval for the construction of the Sudarshan Setu bridge was given by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in 2016.

7. PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Sudarshan Setu bridge between Okha and Beyt Dwarka on 7 October 2017.

8. The Sudarshan Setu was constructed at the cost of ₹979 crores or 120 million US dollar.

9. The total width of the Sudarshan Setu is 27.2 meters, with two lanes in each direction and a 2.5 meters wide footpath on each side.

10. The Sudarshan Setu also has solar panels installed on the upper portions of the footpath that generates one megawatt of electricity.

Know about Beyt Dwarka

The Beyt Island is a small island off the coast of Dwarka, Gujarat. It is also called Bet Dwarka or Shankodhar. It is located at the mouth of the Gulf of Kutch.

The Bet Dwarka island is enclosed by a few temples, white sand beaches and coral reefs. It is believed to be the home of Lord Krishna when he was the king of Dwarka.
